Colour Doppler echo cardiography

Apart from the resting and exercise ECG, the cardiac ultrasound examination is the most important cardiological examination and indispensable component of every cardiological diagnosis.

The cardiac ultrasound examination allows an accurate functional analysis of the right and left ventricle, the determination of the size of all cavities of the heart, provides information about the function of the heart valves and reveals heart attacks that have occurred earlier. Thus practically all structures of the heart muscle and of the heart valves can be displayed in motion with very high resolution and analysed.

Echo cardiography is basically performed under conditions of rest.
The echo cardiographic examination under exercise conditions (stress echo cardiography) permits further analyses of the blood supply to the heart muscle and can thus detect coronary vessel changes (coronary heart disease) early on.
