Sports medical performance analysis

Sports medical examinations have as goal:

  1. To exclude a possible cardiovascular risk in sports activities as well as
  2. to analyse the current functional capacity of the cardiovascular system and
  3. to provide relevant recommendations for training.

Apart from the cardiological examinations that can exclude significant heart diseases, spiroergometry is of decisive importance in this connection. In this procedure the patient exercises on the bicycle ergometer. With rising exercise levels a large number of parameters is analysed (heart rate, blood pressure behaviour, ECG, maximum oxygen absorption, extent of carbon dioxide expiration, etc.).

The aerobic and anaerobic threshold can then be determined from these parameters.

One thus determines the cardiovascular functional capacity in the maximum peak range as well as in the endurance range.

The performance analyses are in addition an indispensable part of every ambitious physical training programme.
